WrestleMania X-Seven

Lee Maughan: From the AstroDome in Houston, Texas. Hosts are Jim Ross and, appearing at a WrestleMania for the very first time, Paul Heyman. He was actually planned at various points to be on camera at the next three as there were initial plans to have him debut Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania X8 (held off until RAW), to have him in Kurt Angle’s corner at WrestleMania XIX (abandoned after he suffered legitimate injuries after taking a series of F5s from Lesnar, and was then demoted as head writer for SmackDown!, resulting in the writing off of his on-screen character three weeks before the show), and he was to return as Lesnar’s manager for his match with Goldberg at WrestleMania XX (with Vince McMahon deciding not use Heyman after Lesnar and Goldberg both announced their intentions to leave WWE following that match). Consequently, Heyman wouldn’t make his managerial debut on the show until he walked the aisle with C.M. Punk at WrestleMania XXIX, some 12 years after this.
