Royal Rumble 2004

Lee Maughan: Hosts are Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler for RAW brand matches, and Michael Cole and Tazz for SmackDown!, with the cross-brand duo of Ross and Tazz calling the Rumble bout together.

Tables Match
WWF Tag Team Championship
Batista & Ric Flair (c) vs. The Dudley Boyz
Amazingly, this is the Dudleys’ fifth consecutive tag team title match at a Royal Rumble, which is actually a pretty telling barometer for how stale their act has started to become, and that’s with a brief break up in the middle of their run. They’ve basically taken the spot of Razor Ramon, who had title matches on Royal Rumble undercards from 1993-1996, but never actually appeared in a Rumble match itself. Jonathan Coachman joins Ross and Lawler on commentary for this one, currently embroiled in his own mini-feud with the Dudleys, and it’s his involvement that causes the distraction to allow Batista to put D-Von through a table for the win at a paltry 4:22. This was less of a match and more just a bunch of stuff that happened, sloppy, and entirely lacking in flow.
Final Rating: *
