Injury Threatens NXT TakeOver: Chicago Title Match

Tommaso Ciampa is an injury doubt for Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Chicago show.

Ciampa suffered what appeared to be a broken ankle during a house show tag team match in Kentucky against Alexander Wolfe and Eric Young on Thursday night.

X-Rays have since shown that the ankle is not broken, which Triple H later clarified on this morning’s WWE conference call, confirming that Ciampa’s ankle was only sprained and he was feeling much better.

As it stands, Ciampa will still be competing on TakeOver: Chicago alongside #DIY tag partner Johnny Gargano against NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain in a ladder match.

According to Hunter, there is “no back-up plan in place”.

TakeOver: Chicago has been unfortunate when it comes to injuries, with NXT Women’s Championship contender Ember Moon recently pulled from the card due to an arm injury.

WWE will be hoping there are no further last minute scares at this evening’s house show in Evansville.
