SummerSlam 2004

Dan Hey: I thought I’d finished my reviews for this volume (as you probably know, they’re not done in chronological order), but no, there was some stragglers left at the end, so I’ve picked up this one. It’s also Back to the Future day today, so I could be watching that instead. This is the show where the WWE decide to thrust the young Randy Orton into the main event scene. Unfortunately, it’s at the expense of the much more deserving Chris Benoit, who is about to have the rug on his major push pulled from under him. We’re in Toronto, Canada. It’s a joint production between RAW and SmackDown!, meaning that we alternate between the commentary teams of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler (red team) and Michael Cole and Tazz (blue team).
